How the 3 Pillars of Resilience™ Came to Be

A note from Crystal

Sometimes life demands so much resilience from us that we become focused on simply getting through whatever comes next. We adapt, we push forward, we figure things out. But how often do we actually stop and ask ourselves why? How did I get here? And what now?

That’s where the idea for the 3 Pillars of Resilience™ began.

I wanted to understand resilience beyond just our ability to endure. What shapes the way we respond? Why do we fall into certain patterns? And how can we become better at finding our way back to a place of balance when life inevitably challenges us?

By connecting epigenetics, philosophy, and neuroscience, I developed a framework that explores where our responses come from, how we make sense of them, and what we can do differently moving forward.

Because resilience isn’t about never being knocked off balance. It’s about developing the awareness and tools to return to neutral, recover, and move forward — with greater ease each time.

Where soul meets science.

Surviving Isn’t the Same as Being Resilient

Survival is about getting through something. Resilience is about how we recover from it.

And there’s a difference.

We can spend years in survival mode, constantly adapting, pushing through, and doing what needs to be done without ever really returning to a place of balance. We become so good at handling the next challenge that we forget to ask ourselves what the last one did to us.

But resilience isn’t measured by how much we can withstand.

It’s about recognizing when we’ve been knocked off balance, understanding what brought us there, and developing the ability to find our way back to neutral.

Survival gets us through the moment. Resilience gives us the tools to navigate the next one differently.

And the more we understand ourselves, the less time we have to spend simply surviving.
